Thomas B. (Tom) Woods, 90, of Gainesville, TX passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 in Gainesville surrounded by his family. Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Fairview Cemetery with Bro. Hollis Parsons officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel.

Thomas B. (Tom) Woods, 90, was born on March 10, 1932 in Gainesville, TX to Hiram T. and Nola Bea Woods.

After graduating from Gainesville High School, Tom worked at various jobs before serving in the United States Army as Military Police in Germany, during the Korean War.

Upon returning, he continued his education at North Central Texas College, formerly Cooke County Junior College, earning an associate degree. He then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree in Business Management at the University of North Texas in Denton.

On March 6, 1959, he married Ann Butts, his wife of 45 years. Then moved to Richardson, TX. where he was employed by Texas Instruments. In 1972, Tom moved his family back to Gainesville in order to serve as NCTC’s Business Manager until he retired in 1991.

He supported his community through Rotary Club, Meals on Wheels, numerous charity donations, and personal assistance to family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Woods, his parents, brothers, Billy and Robert Woods, sister, Dolores Sicking and nephew, Stephen Woods, sisters-in-law, Betty Jeanne Hibbard, Malena Butts, Maxine Butts, and brothers-in-law, Fane Butts, Raymond Butts, Bill Welch and Bill Hibbard.

Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Diane Blair (Van) and Sharon Pierce (Tom); grandchildren, Meredith Webb (Chris), Ryan Blair (Bonnie), and Courtney Kuykendall (Landon); great-grandchildren, Ella, Cason, Maddie, Veronica, Bryson, Adlee, Ledger and Charlotte. Tom is also survived by brother-in-law, Jim Butts and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Blair, Landon Kuykendall, Chris Webb, Mike Welch, Kevin Butts and Mike King.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Jim Butts.
