December 9, 1935 –  March 11, 2017  Gainesville resident, Sylvia Mae Overfelt, 81, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at The Sanger House. She was born in Boulder, Colorado on December 9, 1935 to Ralph and Hannah (Harris) Bixler. Sylvia and her husband, Leroy had owned and operated a construction company. She was a world champion barrel racer.
A Celebration of Life Service for Sylvia will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16th at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Stevens officiating.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Chown of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Kris Overfelt of Morristown, Arizona; granddaughter, Riley Chown of Stephenville, Texas; and nieces, Natalie Kayser of Boulder, Colorado and Claudia Greenburg of Longmont, Colorado.
