June 18, 1925 – July 24, 2009 SADLER รข?? Funeral Services for Sylvia Christine Bates, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
Sylvia passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Whitesboro Health & Rehab Center.
She was born on June 18, 1925 in Woodville, OK to Ulysses Grant Coley and Clemmie Katherine (Lemmons) Coley. She had worked as a school librarian and was a homemaker. Sylvia married Leo Bates on Aug. 3, 1979 in Willis, OK. She was very active; singing in a country & western band all over Texoma for many years. Sylvia also enjoyed quilting and canning up until this past year. She was a member of the N. Union St. Church of Christ in Whitesboro.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Bates of Sadler, a daughter, Judy Watson and husband, Fred of Whitesboro, a son, Ronnie Flowers and wife, Judy of Whitesboro, 6 grandchildren, Robbie Flowers of Whitesboro, Angela Cryer of Collinsville, Lisa Sterling of Sherman, Bret Watson of Gainesville, Bart Watson of Whitesboro and Brock Watson of Whitesboro, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, U.G. Coley and Bob Coley, and 2 infant sisters.
Pallbearers are Bret Watson, Bart Watson, Brock Watson, Robbie Flowers, Eric Cryer and Kevin Sterling.
