April 9, 1924 –  April 18, 2014  SHIRLEY SMITHWHITESBORO – Graveside services for Shirley Inez Smith, 90, of Whitesboro, Texas, will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro with Rev. Boyd Sawyer officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Visitation services will be held prior to the graveside services on Monday, from 1-2 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. She passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014, in Gainesville, Texas.
Shirley was born on April 9, 1924 in the Barron Community of Tioga, Texas, to Oscar A. and Ruth (Worsham) Midgett. She married Edgar Jack Smith in Grayson County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, Texas. She enjoyed a lengthy retirement after having been employed as a seamstress at Lovejoy’s Sewing Room and Malouf’s Garment Factory. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, sewing and working puzzles. She loved being outside. She had just recently renewed her driving license.
She is survived by her children: Jackie and Johnny Van Bevers of Mesquite; Danny and Donna Smith of Watauga; Jimmy and Virginia Smith of Benbrook; Larry and Teresa Smith of Whitesboro; Annette and Gary Workman of Gainesville; grandchildren: Lisa and Ricky Rose; Gretchen Carter; David and Priscilla Van Bevers; Daryl Van Bevers; Dana and C. J. Johnson; DeeDee and Tei Jai Patterson; Bryan and Jennifer Smith; Kevin Smith; Micah Smith; Candice and Paul Zaragoza; Mandy and Philip Griffin; Leah and Jeffrey Bruce; Bailey and John Mark Jenkins; and Tiffany and Brent Shaw; great-grandchildren; Shawn Gregory; Lana and Josh Davis; Jacob Rose, Evan Carter, Haylie Carter, Douglas Van Bevers, Katarina Savignano, Andrew Savignano, Samantha Van Bevers, Tyler Johnson, Kylei Patterson, Landon Smith, Jasmine Zaragoza, Gracelyn Zaragoza, London Zaragoza, Ivie Griffin, Shamus Griffin, Ian Bruce, Aubree Bruce, Camden Bruce, and Riley Shaw; great-great grandchildren: Landon Gregory, Allie Gregory, and soon-to-arrive Ainsley Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ruth Midgett; husband, Edgar Jack Smith; her daughter, Teresa Gail Smith; sisters, Geraldean Slauson and Juanell Midgett; brother, Hoyt Midgett.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ricky, David, Daryl, C. J., Tei Jai, Bryan, Kevin, and Brent.
