July 27, 1935 –  December 25, 2014  WHITESBORO – Graveside services for Sherwood Dick, 79, were held on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Service arrangements were under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Visitation services will be held prior to the funeral services from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.He passed away at Whitesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center on December 25, 2014 with family around him.
Sherwood, the son of Willie Hamilton and Flora (Kannady) Dick, born on July 27, 1935, in Sherman, Texas, reached the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 25 days. He married Thelma Mouw Winter on December 11, 1994 in Whitesboro, Texas.
Sherwood is one of four generations of service men. His grandfather John P. Kannady, his father, Willie Hamilton Dick, Sherwood, his son, Randy Dick, and his step-grandson, Joshua Winter, proudly served their country. Sherwood served from 1958-1961 in the U. S. Army and served an additional year in the National Guard. He worked in road construction and as a TV repairman for 20 years. He was a member of the A. F. & F. M. #263 in Whitesboro. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Thelma Mouw Winter Dick, of Whitesboro; son, Randy Dick and wife, Felecia, of Parsons, TN; son, Steven Dick, of Gainesville; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-children; 7 step-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, and watching wrestling. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Hamilton and Flora Dick.
