Ronald Gayle Burrus of Gainesville, Texas, passed away on December 31, 2019 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Ron was born on the 29th of June. 1959 in Winchester, Kentucky, to Ronald Burrus, Sr. and Janice Moyers-Burrus. Ron was proud to join the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division out of high school. He became an officer for the Military Police and the Kentucky Highway Patrol. He was later given the honor as a member of the Kentucky Colonels for his strength of character and dedication to his community. He planted his roots in Gainesville, Texas and was employed with the United State Postal Service for almost three decades. He was a beloved Letter Carrier to those he knew on his routes. Ron loved the outdoors, fishing, and going to many sporting events with his son, Matthew. Ron also was a historian who loved American history as well as recording the history of his own family who he loved very much.

He is survived by his son Matthew Burrus of Gainesville, his mother Janice Burrus of Lexington, KY; sisters Amber Burrus of Louisville, KY, Kim Burrus-Wisner of Lexington, KY, Nicole Burrus-Lamb of Maryville, TN; and brother Steve Burrus of Lexington, KY. He’s preceded in death by his father Ron Burrus, Sr.

Visitation will be Friday, January 3rd, 2020 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville, Texas. Ron’s Memorial Service will take place at 1:00PM on Saturday, January 4th, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville
