April 2, 1946 –  May 5, 2006  SADLER â?? Ronald E. â??Ronnieâ? Melton, age 60, of Sadler passed away Friday May 5, 2006 as a result of an automobile accident. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2006 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro. Interment will follow at Sadler Cemetery. Bill Taplin will officiate assisted by Andy Burns. Family Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Ronnie was born to Horace and Gladys Huffaker Melton on April 2, 1946 in Whitesboro. He attended and graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1966. On June 17, 1966 he married Alice Faye Fowler in Sadler.

Ronnie was a very active man throughout his life having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a supervisor at Hardwick-Etter/ Continental Conveyor for 20 years. He was a very active member of the North Union church of Christ in Whitesboro, having previously served as elder. Ronnie was also instrumental in raising funds to build the Sadler Community Center, where he had served on the board of directors. He loved to fish with his friends Howard, Jerry, and Wayne, but the joy of his life were his 5 grandchildren.
â??Papawâ? was very proud of his grandchildren and could be found at any activity they were involved with. He truly cared about people and was a good friend to many.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Alice Faye of Sadler; daughters, Kelly Fisher and husband Corgie of Sadler, Stacy Muller and husband Shawn of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Allison Fisher, Mollie Fisher, Cameron Fisher, Jada Muller, Dara Muller; mother, Gladys Melton of Whitesboro; sister, Chyrel Whittington of Woodbine and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Horace Melton, brothers, Jerry Paul Melton, Michael Melton, Larry Melton and sister, Robbie Wilson.

Pallbearers will be: Jack Boston, Wayne Taylor, Morris Peregrine, James Scarbrough, Bobby Clay, Michael Howard, Johnny Lee Godsey and Royce Melton.

Honorary pallbearers are: Marion Clounch, Darden Fletcher, Bill Dunnam, Jerry Eldridge and Howard Payne.
