February 16, 1954 –  November 21, 2017  SHERWOOD SHORES – Funeral Services for Roger Lynn Woolsey, 63, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Gordonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the funeral home.Roger, a loving Daddy, Papa, husband, brother, son and uncle, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home in Sherwood Shores after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 16, 1954 in Denton to Robert Denton Woolsey and Martha Iona (Hilliard) Woolsey. Roger was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a superintendent in the oil field. He married Joyce Lynne Hitchcock on May 22, 1975 in Gainesville. He was a very compassionate person and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping, traveling, golfing and playing guitar. Roger was a member of Legacy Pointe Central Baptist Church in Whitesboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Stone and husband, Brian of Gordonville; grandchildren, Lindsay Bumpus and Darys Stone; two brothers, William Woolsey and wife, Lisa of Gordonville and Phillip Woolsey and wife, Tracy of Gainesville; a sister, Vickie Colteryahn and husband, Kent of Callisburg; two sister in laws, Sandy Boggs and husband, John of Whitesboro and Kathy Howell and husband, Kenny of Louisiana; a brother in law, Ron Hitchcock and wife, Cathy of Melissa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce L. Woolsey; parents, Robert and Iona Woolsey; and a sister in law, Debbie Combs.
Pallbearers will be William Woolsey, Phillip Woolsey, Brian Stone, John Boggs, Darys Stone and Jeff Threadgill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Bilderback and Bryan Sprinkle.
