February 17, 1929 – July 20, 2015 Roger Gene McMenamy, 86, passed away early Monday morning at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 22 at 2:00 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas, under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.
Roger Gene McMenamy was born on February 17, 1929 in Whitesboro, Texas to William and Irene McMenamy. His family then moved to Quanah, Texas where he attended school and graduated high school in 1947. He then attended Howard Payne University and played football there his freshman year, before transferring to Texas Tech University. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1952 earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Later on in his career he earned a Master’s of Business Administration.
After graduation, Roger accepted a position with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1952 where he began his career in the Treasury Department. He became head of International Finance traveling worldwide for many years. He stayed with Phillips Petroleum until he retired in 1986.
On May 25, 1955 Roger married Bonnie Lee Munsinger in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In 1962 daughter Jan Rene’. was born and in 1966 son Robert Allen was born. In 1988 Roger and Bonnie moved to Corinth, Texas where he resided until 2005. In 2005 he moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be closer to his children Jan and Robert.
Roger was involved in a variety of activities including attending church regularly, volunteering at many different organizations, and being involved in his children’s activities. First and foremost he was an honest, hard working man who enjoyed spending time with his family. Later in life he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his granddaughter, Kristi Rene’ Davis.
He is survived by his daughter Jan Davis (husband Jim) of Edmond, Oklahoma, son Robert McMenamy (wife Brenda) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, brother Jimmy McMenamy of Houston, Texas, brother Joe McMenamy (wife Joan) of Orlando, Florida, brother-in-law Jim Turner of Houston, Texas and granddaughter Kristi Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma in
