July 13, 1919 –  January 17, 2006  WHITESBORO Ă¢?? Funeral Services for Robert Douglas Fenley, Sr., 86, will be 2 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Dwayne Mayo and Rev. Lonnie Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in New Resthaven Cemetery in Gainesville. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mr. Fenley passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born July 13, 1919 in the Hood Community in Cooke County to Henry and Emma (Davidson) Fenley. He served during World War II in the European Theater as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. On May 21, 1984 he married Vergie (Bartlett) Davidson in Whitesboro. He worked as a welder for most of his life. He was an active and faithful member of Shady Grove Congregational Methodist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, golf and square dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Vergie Fenley of Whitesboro; a son, Robert Douglas Fenley, Jr. of Irving; a daughter, Dana Kizzar and husband Larry of Valley View; a step-daughter, Melba Daniels and husband Paul of Denton; a brother, Irvin Fenley of Cleburne; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Maye Fenley; his parents Henry and Emma Fenley and two sisters, Marie Taylor and Edith Edelen.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
