He was born to Marvin and Alta (Porter) Bilbrey on October 2, 1936 in Duke, Oklahoma. Ray was a native of Oklahoma and was raised at Seiling, Oklahoma by his Godparents, Harold F. Jackson and Flora (Blackie) Jackson. Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force for four years stationed at Perrin Air Base, Denison, and after his honorable discharge, he married Delores “Yvonne” Green on January 15, 1958 in Sherman, Texas. He and Yvonne settled in Whitesboro in 1962 when an oil boom brought him to an oilfield related business working as a salesman in the oilfield supply business. Ray worked in the oilfield business until his retirement in 2000. He was a member and served as a deacon of Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro. Ray enjoyed sports, gardening and working in his yard, old music and watching the Hallmark channel and the Western channel and could quote every word of every John Wayne movie by heart. He loved his family and his friends greatly.
The family would like to thank some very special people – Delisa and Donald Tuckness of Whitesboro, Royce and Linda Melton of Whitesboro, Central Baptist Church family and the staff of Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman, WNJ Hospital staff and two special nurses Stevi Emerson from THC and Roger from WNJ Hospital and Dr. Michael J.
