Oaties Waymon Bagwell, 77, of Gainesville, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 surrounded by family.

Waymon was born on January 31, 1944 in Sherman, Texas, one of nine children born to James Oaties and Lona Mildred (Latham) Bagwell.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war.  Waymon worked and retired from the oilfields of North Texas.  He was a member of the VFW post 1922 in Gainesville since 1980.  He enjoyed watching old westerns, messing with his cows, working on the farm, short visits with friends and family and sitting outside with a cold drink and his dog Sassy.  Waymon was a man who enjoyed living the simple life on his farm.  He had a big loving family, one who enjoyed being around him and learning from him.

He is survived by his son, Orland Bagwell and wife, Laura of Sadler; daughter, Starla Tipps and partner, Dale Meadows of Ponca City, OK; daughter, Kim McClinton and husband, Johnny of Gainesville; grandchildren; Kima Dawn Lee and husband, Dewayne of Ardmore, Ok; Joshua Milan and fiancée Jaylene Stolting of Callisburg; Amanda Bagwell of Irving; Jeremy Milan of Callisburg; Brittany Bagwell of Frisco; Jeffery McClinton and wife, Karley of Callisburg; great-granddaughter, Jocelyne Mayzie Milan and another great-grandchild due this year, brother Wendell Bagwell and wife, Evelyn; brother, Wayland Bagwell; brother-in-law, Johnny Crisp and wife, Faye; brother-in-law, Billy Joe Crisp; sister-in-law, Barbara Bratcher and husband, Ray; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service honoring Waymon will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Larry Eberhart. No formal visitation is scheduled.
