January 21, 1921 –  April 16, 2012  Funeral Services for Lola Juanita â??Nitaâ? Baker, 91, are set for Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 PM at the Whitewright Church of Christ in Whitewright, Texas. Interment will follow at the Hogeye-Celeste Cemetery near Celeste, Texas. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in Whitewright before the services. Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Mrs. Baker passed away on Monday, April 16, at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, TX.

She was born near Ladonia, Texas on January 21, 1921 to Joseph Clarence Milton and Elza Etta (Baumgardner) Milton. She grew up and attended school near Ladonia and Celeste Texas. She graduated from East Texas State Teacherâ??s College in Commerce Texas with a degree in Chemistry.

She began a teaching career in Commerce High School, but her plans were interrupted by a handsome young soldier. She was married to William H. Baker Jr. on October 17, 1942.

Through the years, Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and teacher. She enjoyed art, music and learning new things. She loved connecting with her cousins and spent many happy hours finding new relatives by researching her family history. In Whitewright, she was a member of the Friday Literary Club and assisted at the local public library.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and devoted herself to teaching Bible classes, and helping others in the Texas and Oklahoma communities where her husband preached.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Etta Milton, Her husband William H. â??Billâ? Baker Jr., and her sister Mildred Opal Millican.

Mrs. Baker is survived by daughter, Donna Baker Bills and her husband Jack of Gainesville, Texas; son, William H. Baker III and his wife Mary Ann of Austin, Texas; and grandson William H. Baker IV and wife Patricia of San Antonio, Texas. She is, also survived by four great-grandchildren, Analicia, Matthew, and Joseph Baker of San Antonio, Texas and Sean Vallejo of Austin, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Whitewright Church of Christ, Hillcrest Church of Christ of Gainesville, or the Alzheimerâ??s Association.
