January 26, 1919 –  June 8, 2013  A graveside service for Murry E. Wharton will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at New Hope Cemetery, Mountain Springs, TX. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Meador Clement-Keel Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, TX.

Murry passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Wheeler House Assisted Living Center under the care of Hospice Plus. He was born January 26, 1919 in Antlers, OK, to James Allen and Mary Dicy Williams Wharton.

Murry spent 4 years in the Army during World War II where he received medals and service ribbons. After returning home, he married Anna May Peyrot on June 1, 1947. They raised their family in the Era Community where they owned and operated a dairy farm.

Survivers include his wife, Anna; daughters, Dicy Bryant and husband, Jerry, of Gainesville, TX; Teresa Moore and husband, Kenny, of Keller, TX; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Douglas Bryant of Centerton, AR and son Kendal of Berryville, AR; Connie Bryant and son, Zavier Dela Rosa, of Killeen, TX; Lindsley Howell and husband, Adam, and daughter Kinsey, of The Colony, TX; Bo Moore and wife, Blair, and sons Brock and Brewer, of Waxahachie, TX; sisters, Margaret Brooks of Angier, NC and Betty Graves of Gainesville, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three brothers, Lois Wharton, Wilson Wharton and J.D. Wharton, two sisters, Gladys Harper and Veda Roberts; grandson-in-law, Rory Dela Rosa, and great-granddaughter, Ainslee Dela Rosa.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Bryant, Kenny Moore, Douglas Bryant, Bo Moore, Adam Howell, and Weldon Roberts. Service will be conducted by Glen Wharton.
