December 16, 1925 –  April 13, 2015  AMARILLO – Graveside services for Mavis Geraldine Cathey, 89, will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the Gordonville Cemetery in Gordonville, Texas with Gerald Cathey officiating. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Visitation services were held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.She died on Monday, April 13, 2015 in Amarillo, Texas.
Mavis was born on December 16, 1925 in Madill, Oklahoma to James Clarence and Ruby (Badgett) Chambers. She married Raymond L. Cathey in 1949. They were married for 55 years. Mavis worked in a war factory during World War II. She was a homemaker who loved to paint, garden, and sew.
She is survived by her son, Garry Cathey and his wife, Bunny, of Amarillo; son, Gerald Cathey and his wife, Margie, of Amarillo; grandchildren: Christie Frausto and Katie White; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Easton, Myles, and Lila.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Cathey; her parents, Clarence and Ruby Chambers; and her grandson, Todd Cathey.
