February 23, 1921 –  February 26, 2012  WHITESBORO- Funeral services for Betty Cox Perkins, 91, will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 7 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” was born on February 23, 1921 in Harrison, Arkansas to John Eldridge and Billie (Stephens) Connell. She married Loyd W. Cox on August 10, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro and the Asbury Sunday School Class. Betty loved to dance, was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was also a member of the Whitesboro History Club and Class Room Teacher Association.
Survivors include her children; Chuck Cox and wife, Susan Vardell of Whitesboro, Tom Cox and wife, Mary of Fritch, and Kathy McClellan of Houston; 11 grandchildren, John Cox, Jr., Christi Strange, Mike Cox, Casey Zboril, Leah Shoberg, Lynde Price, Derek Cox, Dixie Wilson, Lacey Cox, Jay McClellan and Matt McClellan; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Robert Connell of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Billie Connell; a grandson, Charlie Cox; and her two husbands, Loyd Cox and Jim Perkins.
