November 9, 1930 –  February 3, 2015  Whitesboro – A Mass of Christian Burial for Margarita “Margo” Munchrath, 84, will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., in Windthorst, Texas at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Maloney officiating. Interment will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Munchrath family plot where her in-laws, Henry and Bertha Munchrath; and brother-in-law, Earl G. Munchrath, are laid to rest. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.She passed away on February 3, 2015 in Gainesville, Texas.
Born on November 9, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to William and Marjorie Merritt, Margo attended Sunset High School in Dallas, where she graduated in 1947. On May 19, 1950, Margo married her longtime sweetheart, LeRoy J. Munchrath.
Margo lived in the Dallas/Arlington area most of her life. She was employed by Chance Vought, before leaving to raise her family. Upon her husband’s (LeRoy) retirement, they moved to the Lake Texoma area before settling in Whitesboro, Texas.
Margo enjoyed many indoor as well as outdoor activities. She took great pride in her surroundings, furnishing her home with her paintings, arts and crafts. She had many creative talents including not only painting, but also sewing (clothing, dolls, quilts, etc.), needlework, pottery, ceramics, floral designs and gardening. She served as an officer of the Women’s Garden Club in Arlington and was a Den Mother for her sons’ scout troops. Margo loved nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and travel.
Margo was a member of St. Peter’s Church of Lindsey, Texas, and previously St. Mary’s in Sherman, Texas.
Margo is survived by her husband of 64 years, LeRoy; their four children: Larry Munchrath of Eustace; Steve Munchrath of Mabank; Mark Munchrath and fiancé, Dr. Karen McCain, of Dallas; and Connie Brooks and husband, Bill, of Euless; three grandsons: Steven Munchrath of Dallas; Samuel Munchrath of Monroe, LA; and Simon Munchrath of Seattle, WA; five granddaughters: Stefanie Munchrath of Arlington; Maresa Sewall of Amarillo; Amy Adams and husband, Jimmie, of Bedford; Dr. Lauren O’Connell and husband, Dr. Jeremy O’Connell, of Boston, MA; and Aubrey Munchrath of Seattle, WA; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Margo was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marjorie Merritt, of Dallas; and brother, Robert T. Merritt, of Montgomery.
The pallbearers will be Harold Munchrath, Ray Munchrath, Marvin Munchrath, Larry Munchrath, Steve Munchrath, Mark Munchrath, and Bill Brooks.
