Marcia June Walton Spillers, born February 5, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas, left this earth for her Heavenly reward on May 18, 2022, after an extended battle with cancer. Her love of God, family, friends and people knew no end. She graduated from Lisle Senior High School in Lisle, Illinois and attended Abilene Christian College. For 37 years, students of the Shepherd ISD, Bridgeport ISD, Callisburg ISD and Collinsville ISD learned respect, love and kindness through her daily example with small souls in these institutions. She was married to the love of her life, Doug Spillers, for 42 years.   She was an active member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ congregation and touched many lives through her service and love for God.

She loved mowing, that was her prayer time, and loved all her customers at Lake Kiowa.  She loved her neighbors as if they were her family, and they were so supportive of her through all her health struggles.  Neighbor, Brian Buchanan, deserves special mention because he was an amazing support system for her day in and day out.

She was always called an energizer bunny because she was always one step ahead of everyone, performing an amazing life balancing act.   She was a committed caregiver for her mother and husband, Doug, for many years, and was always patient beyond belief with Doug’s shenanigans.  Her love was unending for Doug to the very end of her days.  They loved spending time together and traveling.  She was a loving mother and was overjoyed to be a grandmother.  Marcia Lynn was truly the pride of her life.   She loved shopping, traveling, Hallmark movies, and spending time with family and friends.   She fought the good fight, she always put it in God’s hands and believed that was always the right decision.

She is and will continue to be missed.

Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas C. Spillers, her parents, Robert L. Walton (Bob) and Margret Bozarth Walton. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Spillers Gaston and Gary Gaston of Corinth along with their children, her brother and spouse, David and Susan Walton of Midwest City, Oklahoma, her brother, Michael Walton of Plano, Texas, her sister and spouse, Teri Walton Moore and Dwayne Moore of Spring Hill, Tennessee, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Alabama, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Texas and Tennessee.   She is also survived by many cousins and extended family along with countless brothers and sisters in Christ. May God, through His Spirit, provide peace and comfort to each of you!

Visitation will be held at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022.  Graveside service will be Saturday, May 21, at 10:00 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Hillcrest Church of Christ following the burial, at 11:00 a.m. The Spillers’ family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Pettijohn Springs Church Camp and Home Hospice of Cooke County in honor of Marcia Spillers.
