November 29, 1950 –  August 21, 2015  Manuel H. “Mickey” Davis was born on November 29, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee to Manuel H. Davis and Martha Louise (Smith) Davis. He passed into the arms of the Father August 21, 2015 after a long illness. He was 64 years old. He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Gainesville; sons, Michael Davis of Gulfport, Mississippi and Sean Davis and wife, Becky of Gainesville; grandchildren. Chloe and Nehemiah of Gulfport, Mississippi and Makayla, Logan, and Emilie of Gainesville; brother, Frank Taylor of Albany, Georgia and sister, Charlene Godbee of Ravenel, South Carolina.
Mickey joined the Navy in 1969 and retired as Chief Petty Officer in 1989. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He loved his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. His family and friends span from east to west and his love left each of us with our own special memories of Mickey; but his greatest love was for his country. Throughout his twenty years of service, he never shied away from his responsibilities as a Navy Seabee and military member, which makes Manuel a true American hero. Mickey will be missed but lovingly remembered by all whom he touched.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26th at Meador Funeral Home Reception Center. Interment will be at Hope Well Church in South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project (wounderwarriorproject.orj or mailed to P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675).
