June 28, 1929 –  January 2, 2018  Leon Krebs was born in Cooke County to Regina and Frank Krebs, Sr. The family moved to Tishomingo, Oklahoma in 1945, they moved back to Gainesville and Leon went to St. Mary’s School. Leon enlisted in the Army and served for three years, two of those years in Germany. Leon was a life member of the VFW and of the K.C. He married Eileen Fleitman. They were married for sixty-four years and have five children; Steven and Lola Krebs of Gainesville, Cynthia Shadwick of Grand Prairie, Sandria Lea of Denton, Janice and Pat Endres of Gainesville and Patrick and Sherrie Krebs of Bridgeport. Leon is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer and husband David Barnes, Michael and wife, Megan Krebs, Christopher and wife, Nichole Krebs, Gina and husband, Jim Stoffels, Brandon Lea, Brian and wife, Aika Lea; Joseph and wife, Brooke Krebs, Ashley Krebs and fiancĂ© Josh Cowie; Dustin and wife, Ashley Krebs, Trent and wife, D’Ann Endres; Kody and wife, Amber Endres, Dr. Kyle Endres, Travis Endres; two step-grandchildren, A.J. and wife Ashley Shadwick and Liz and husband Kyle Ellsworth, fifteen great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Krebs, Jr. of Gainesville; sister, Doris and husband, Henry Kuhn, Jr. of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Sylvia Valdez, brother-in-law, Eddie and wife, Maryann Fleitman of Muenster; sister-in-law, Betty Felderhoff of Muenster and sisters-in-law, Lorine Strassberg of Dayton, Ohio and Mary Jane and husband David Carter of Denison. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dillard and Eugene Krebs; sisters, Darlene Wolff, Eunice Wolf and Mildred Hoedebeck; sisters-in-law, Dorthy Krebs and Florella Krebs; brothers-in-law, Ed Wolf and William Wolff, Cletus Hoedebeck, Henry Felderhoff, Herbie Fleitman and Gene Strassberg.
Leon Krebs passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the age of 88. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4th at St. Mary’s Church with Father John Pacheco officiating. Interment will follow in New Rest Haven Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 Wednesday evening at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville. Michael Krebs, Joseph Krebs, Brandon Lea, Brian Lea, Trent Endres and Kyle Endres will serve at pallbearers.
