June 30, 1938 –  April 12, 2009  WHITESBORO â?? Memorial Services for Larry Gene Milburn, 70, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Richard Nourse officiating.
Larry went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He will be fondly remembered as a loving family man and a faithful friend by many.

He was born on June 30, 1938 in Marysville, Texas to John and Jessie Milburn, and resided in Gainesville for most of his youth. On Dec. 26, 1960, he married Carol Harris. They then began a military life together as he served his country in the U.S. Air Force, living in various locations throughout his career. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1980, they moved to Whitesboro. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years of service. Larry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Whitesboro where he served as Elder. He served on the board of Your Neighborâ??s House, Whitesboroâ??s local food pantry. It was his favorite volunteer organization.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Milburn of Whitesboro, 3 sons-in-law and daughters, Joe & Dee Dorman of Lake Kiowa, Don & Jo Ann Popkess of Bowie and Mark & Dawn Lewis of Grapevine, 8 grandchildren and a brother-in-law & sister, Alan & Janice Shapiro of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Jessie Milburn.
