Lafan Hall Brookshear, 91, passed away on April 20, 2007 at The Homestead of Sherman after a brave fight with various health issues. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 23, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro with Dr. Roy Spore officiating. Interment will follow in Macomb Cemetery, directed by Meador Funeral of Whitesboro.

Lafan was born in Kemp, Oklahoma to Emmett and Mattie (Bain) Hall on October 14, 1915. She married Herman Brookshear on December 24, 1935 in Denton, Texas. She was a homemaker and also worked in the family owned grocery business in Whitesboro for many years. She became a Christian in her teen years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro since 1936.

She is survived by a son, Gordon Brookshear and wife Christine of Whitesboro; a daughter, Linda Ruebeck and husband Chris of Sherman; a sister, Vada Hart of Las Cruces, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; infant daughter Ada Beth; six brothers and three sisters.

Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
