February 27, 1947 –  October 16, 2017  Former Lake Kiowa resident, Karla Sue Denny passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at her home in Frisco. She was born in Hays, Kansas to Harold C. and Billye (Deatrich) Schoenberger on February 27, 1947. Karla taught school in Colby Kansas for 30 years and was later the Director of Communication for the Department of Education in Topeka, Kansas. She was a devout Methodist and loved her church family, serving her church as pianist for many years. Karla was an avid reader and a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and sister. She had fought a battle with cancer for thirteen years.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23rd at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville.

Survivors include her children, Kristy Smith and husband, Scott of Springhill, Kansas and J.J. Denny and wife, Lori of Colby, Kansas; sister, Karol Ruda and husband, Bob of Prosper; grandchildren, Lakin Denny, Claire Denny, Jack Denny, Kruze Denny, Camille Denny, Quinn Denny, Brooke Barry, Kris Smith, Juli Smith, Jo Smith and Jax Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
