June 25, 1943 –  April 3, 2017  Mass of Christian Burial for Juan Munoz Chavez, 73, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7th at Saint Mary’s Church in Gainesville. Father John D. Pacheco will be officiating. A Rosary will be held Thursday, April 6th at 6:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville followed by family visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Chavez passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Carrollton. He was born in Mexico on June 25, 1943 to Florencio and Amparo (Munoz) Chavez. Juan loved farming and ranching. He enjoyed working with horses and was quite a horseman.

Survivors include his son, Marcos Chavez of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Jody Nicewonger of Carrollton; brothers, Felipe Chavez of Mexico, Esteban Chavez of Nebraska, Cresencio Chavez of Nebraska and Clemente Chavez of Nebraska; sisters, Leonor Chavez of Mexico and Francisca Chavez of Mexico and grandchildren, Austin Chavez, Addison Nicewonger and Adam Nicewonger. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Juana Chavez.
