May 7, 1917 –  June 14, 2005  Memorial service for John Thomas (J.T.) Acker, age 88, will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro. A private graveside service will precede memorial service in Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. In Lieu of a visitation friends may visit the home of Kathy Thomas, 727 Park Place, Whitesboro, or you may visit Just Like Home Care Center, 6313 Old Sherman Rd., Whitesboro.   Mr. Acker passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Just Like Home Care Center in Whitesboro.   
Mr. Acker was born May 7, 1917 in Era, TX to Albert Lee and Carra Ann McFerrin Acker. He married Gladys Marceille Kile on November 21, 1936 in Whitesboro, TX.
Mr. Acker served as a Gunner’s Mate in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He retired in 1970 as a Fireman at Perrin Air Base, after retirement he also did carpenter work.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Acker of Whitesboro; son, Johnny Acker and wife Sharion of Flower Mound; daughter, Kathy Thomas and husband Lynn of Whitesboro and son, Ricky Acker and wife Sharon of Whitesboro; 2 brothers, Woodrow Acker of Whitesboro and Armond Acker of Whitesboro; 5 Grandchildren, Jennifer Acker of Farmers Branch, Jeremy Quatacker of Phoenix, AZ, John Acker of Austin, Kara Thomas of Whitesboro and Laura Thomas of Whitesboro.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
