September 10, 1940 –  January 10, 2011  ARDMORE – Funeral Services for Jerry Don Cardwell, 70, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Pastor Jerry Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.Jerry passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at his home near Ardmore after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1940 in Whitesboro to William A. and Sarah Elizabeth (Willingham) Cardwell. He married Wanda Lou Springs on April 26, 1960 in Collinsville. He was a self-employed cement contractor. After retirement, he fulfilled his dream of hunting, fishing and raising cattle on his 147 acres. He dearly loved his family and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Cardwell of Ardmore, Oklahoma; a son, Jeff Cardwell and wife, Debbie of Weatherford; a daughter, Rhonda Floyd and husband, Stanley of Gainesville; 5 grandchildren, Jeffery Cardwell, Jr., Jonathan Cardwell, Jessica Cardwell, Matthew Floyd and Jordan Floyd; 1 great-grandchild, Jaden Cardwell; 3 sisters, Nell Green of Grapevine, Frances Gravette of Whitesboro, Goldie Smith of Dallas; and a brother Melvin Cardwell and wife, Wanda of Dodson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Sarah Cardwell; 2 sisters, Dorothy Akins, Imogene Hames; 5 brothers, Dalford, Dewey, Travis, Harold and Earl Cardwell.
