March 1, 1940 –  February 10, 2017  GAINESVILLE – Funeral services for James Baskin “Jack” Parker, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville with Rev. Roslyn Eugster officiating with services under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Gainesville. Interment will follow at the New Resthaven Cemetery in Gainesville. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the funeral home.Jack passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Medical City Hospital in Denton.
He was born on March 1, 1940 to J.A. and Susie (Sue) (Gambill) Parker. Jack joined the Army in 1958, serving two years and then served six years in the National Guard. He met his loving wife, Patricia (Pat) Redman at a dance in Ballinger, Texas in 1960. They wed on October 14, 1961 in Rowena, Texas. Jack and Patricia moved to Gainesville in 1964. He worked for National Supply, General Dynamics, Newman Electric and owned his own ditching service until 1980. He then joined Reddifusion Inc. of Arlington, Texas, part of Singer-Link and Hughes Aircraft where he built and installed flight simulators for Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines and the U.S. Armed Forces in Texas, California, Washington State, Florida, Arizona, New York, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Canada, England, France and Sweden.
He worked with the Jaycees and the Boys Club. Jack coached Pee Wee baseball and football. He was an avid golfer and especially loved playing at Pebble Beach in California and at Scottsdale, Arizona. He remained very active until losing his eyesight in 1999 due to diabetes and other health related issues.
Jack was a member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge #210 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite and was a Moslah Temple Shriner. He was also a member of Mission United Methodist Church in Gainesville.
Masons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Book, John Carroll, Rocky Poehls, Jackie Poehls, Ray Newman, Alicia Penkert, Ben Hatcher, Ken Chatam, Gerald Merrifield, Alvin Hallmark, Watt Larue and K.C. Harrison.
In memory of special lodge brothers, Leroy Cloer, Jack Holt, B. J. Muller and Curtis Taylor, these masons will be honorary bearers also.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Parker of Gainesville; daughters, Renee Parker of Gainesville and Tonya Carroll of Gainesville; grandson, K. C. Harrison and wife, Holli; great-grandchildren, Tatum and Wyatt Harrison; sister, Lenna Routh and husband, Gene of Monument, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Poehls of Miles, Texas and Alva Gibson of San Angelo, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and grand-dogs, Deuce and Cooper. .
