Icey Louise (Batson) Huddleston, age 92, passed away July 24, 2020. She was born April 14, 1928 in Edith, Oklahoma to Charles Wesley and Ida Alice Batson. She married Roy Lynn Huddleston, on October 2, 1947.

Icey traveled to different countries around the world as a wife to a naval officer and after they retired. She was a very devoted wife. When her husband was in Vietnam, she wrote to him every single day. He often said, “behind every successful officer there was a strong and supportive spouse.” And his career was extremely successful! He joined the navy as a seaman recruit in the beginning of 1945 and retired as a Commander in 1975. Their last tour of duty was Sasebo, Japan which they both loved very much.

In 1979, they bought a home in Lake Kiowa, Texas. They retired there, full time, a couple of years later. She loved to play golf, cook and play bridge with her Kiowa friends. She also loved having her family come stay with her especially at Christmas when all four of their children would come with their spouses and kids. She also loved sitting on the porch with her husband watching the many birds flying around.

She was a member of the Collinsville Church of Christ where her husband had been an elder for many years.

Icey is survived by her son, William Huddleston and wife Tommie, of Valencia, CA, daughter, Adell Thomson and husband Tom, of Gainesville, TX, daughter, Linda Miyashita, of Gainesville, TX and son, Charles Huddleston and wife Julita, of Lake Kiowa, TX; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services honoring Icey will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Collinsville Church of Christ, officiated by Scott Sides.  Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.  There will be a time of visitation for friends and family held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
