Funeral Services for Howard Wayne Martin, 72, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating. Interment will follow in Tioga Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the funeral home.
Howard passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
He was born on May 19, 1936 in Delaware Bend, Texas to Ernest Howard Martin and Rena Mae (Baker) Martin. He married Patricia Ann Sloan in Tioga, Texas on June 7, 1958. Howard served in the US Army. He loved to golf and fish and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Martin of Lake Kiowa, a son, Barry Martin of Plano, a daughter, Pam Blackford and husband Mark of Garland, 2 grandchildren, Amanda Hubbard and Brooke Blackford, a great-granddaughter, Kay Lynne Hubbard, a brother, Eldon Martin of Abilene, 5 sisters, Lucille Center of Whitesboro, Ruth Williams of Gainesville, Faye Owens of Gainesville, Martha Davidson of Sherman, Velma Parker of Fort Worth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Rena Martin and 4 brothers, Blake, Robert, Homer and Randle Martin.
