March 1, 1944 –  April 30, 2015  Funeral Services for former Gainesville resident, Hollis Wayne Mitchell, 71, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 4th at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gainesville with Rev. Darrell McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Robert Boone, Don Rogers, Kenny McCain, Clint Brown, Zack George and Jimmy West will serve as pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in, Gainesville. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Mitchell passed away Thursday morning, April 30, 2015 at Willow Bend Assisted Living in Denton.
Wayne was born in Topeka, Kansas March 1, 1944 to Hollis and Ethyl (King) Mitchell. He was a 1962 graduate of Merkel High School. He married Joyce Ann Morrow December 10, 1966 in Gainesville, Texas. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father grandfather and friend. He was a banker and investment professional.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam Mitchell George of Denton; grandson, Zack George of Denton; longtime friends, Jim and Darla Sledge of North Richland Hills and cousin, Danny Mitchell of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
