January 13, 1932 –  October 13, 2009  WHITESBORO- Funeral services for Henry E. Bensley, 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bensley passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman.

Henry, known as â??Hankâ? to many, was born on January 13, 1932 in Taylorville, Illinois to Elza L. and Velma C. (Wright) Bensley. He joined the United States Air Force on August 28, 1952 and retired as a Master Sgt. On March 31, 1973. He married his wife, Mary LaDell Phillips on April 3, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico. Henry was an avid bowler and was on a traveling team, competing worldwide while in the military. Henry and Mary owned the Otasco Store in Whitesboro for 24 plus years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and he enjoyed fishing, bluegrass and country and western music. Henry also enjoyed watching college football games and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. The greatest joy and love in his life was his family and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bensley of Whitesboro; a son, Mike Bensley and wife, Shawn of Whitesboro; a grandson, Tyler Lee Bensley of Whitesboro; two sisters, Mary Bavar of Jacksonville, Florida and Patricia Zell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; three brothers, Warren Bensley of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Paul Bensley of Norman, Oklahoma and Danny Henry of Noble, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza L. and Velma Bensley; a son, Joe Bensley; four brothers, Raymond Bensley, Lyle Bensley, Robert Bensley and William Bensley; three sisters, Erma Whatley, Betty Carter and Lucille Alverson.
