Gwendolyn Sue Brown, 79, of Whitesboro, Texas was called home to a glorious reunion with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved husband and family on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

Gwen was born on March 13, 1943 in Oklahoma City to Milton Travis and Ruby Ruth (Garvin) Owen.  She attended Whitesboro High School; she met the man of her dreams while working at The Bronco in Whitesboro.  Gwen married Melvin Douglas Brown I, on October 22, 1960 in Whitesboro, Texas. She and Melvin had a great love for each other throughout the 42 years of their marriage, for them it was impossible to pass by each other without bestowing either a touch, a kiss, or a hug to the other one, they were blessed in their marriage with two children who made their family complete. She loved her family and was very proud of them all, she cherished the moments she spent with them.  Faith was very important to Gwen.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro and was instrumental in starting the Widows Ministry at First Baptist.  She loved the Lord, loved her FBC family and loved sharing her faith with everyone she met.  Gwen had a passion for ministering to the widows in our community, she volunteered as a hospice caregiver and was able to fulfill her passion of caring for others and administering to the care of widows.  She was the most caring and loving woman.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Douglas Brown II, and wife, Prescy of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Brenda Human and husband, John of Yellville, Arkansas; brother, James Owen and wife, Marge of Mesquite; brother, Chuck Owen of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Pat Owen of Hilo, HI; grandchildren, Shalimar Torres, Melvin D. Brown III, Alexa Spence, John D. Brown, and Alysa Spence, great-grandchildren, Jaden, and Gina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving friends and family.
