November 20, 1922 –  January 14, 2012  TIOGA â?? Guy Neil Wooten passed away January 14, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born November 20, 1922 in Tioga, Texas to Thomas and Vera Wooten. Guy Neil married Ruby Faye Gaddie of Whitesboro, Texas on March 22, 1943. His wife of 68 years predeceased him November 22, 2011.After graduating from Tioga High School in 1941, he proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945, primarily in Italy, achieving the rank of sergeant. Returning from the war to his beloved Tioga, Guy Neil began his life long career as a cattle rancher. Even tracheotomy surgery for larynx cancer in 1967 did not slow him down. In the 1960â??s/70â??s his cow/calf operation stretched over pasture land he owned or leased in three counties. He was also one of the original owners of the Pilot Point Livestock Exchange. During his life, Guy served on the Tioga School Board, and was on the board of directors of a local bank. He was a member of the Tioga Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children: Karen Goodwin and husband, Grant, of Plano, TX; Jana Amos and husband, Danny, of Plano, TX; grandchildren: Emily Hudson and husband, Joseph, of Tyler, TX; Neil Amos of Ft. Worth, TX; and great grandchildren: Conner and Carter Hudson of Tyler, TX.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Pilot Point Community Cemetery with long-time friend, Ricky Patterson, officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.
