June 5, 1925 –  December 29, 2013  Funeral Services for Rev. Glyn Rives, 88, will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.Rev. Rives passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at the Medical Center of Plano.
He was born on June 5, 1925 in Wheeler, Texas to Wilburn Fletcher Rives and Gladys Iba (Beaty) Rives. He married Mary Verzella Crews on June 30, 1943 in Shamrock, Texas. He also served in the US Army during WWII. Glyn was a Methodist Minister and was the former Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Sue Harris and husband, Chuck, of Grand Prairie; a granddaughter, Jennifer Harris of Austin; a grandson, Chris Harris and wife, Scarlett, of Portland, Oregon; and a great-granddaughter, Skylar Harris of Portland, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rives; his parents, Wilburn and Gladys Rives; and a sister, LeWanda Hicks.
