September 26, 1928 –  February 16, 2017  Graveside Services for George W. “Dub” Roland, 88, of Whitesboro, Texas will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Scott Jordan officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home, Whitesboro, Texas. He passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center with his son by his side. He was born to George W. and Emma (Tamplen) Roland on September 26, 1928 in Whitesboro, Texas. Dub married Joyce Moore on December 25, 1949 in Whitesboro, Texas. Dub worked raising fish for over 60 years and owned Dub’s Fish Hatchery. At one time, Dub was named Soil Conservationist of the Year. He served on the School Boards of both Gordonville and Whitesboro and also served on the Board of the Two Way Water System. He was a member of Bones Chapel Baptist Church. Longtime friends standing by the casket will be Mario Alvarez, John Brennan, Glen Buckingham, Steve Buckingham, Tony Dudley, Jackie Jester, Kenny Long and Jose Urbina. He is survived by his son, Gary Roland and wife, Dixie of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Josh Atkins and wife, Tina and daughter, Madelyn, Candi White and husband, Michael and sons, Cole, Austin and Chase, Heath Roland and wife, Ashley and children, Avery, Landon and Bailey, Carmen Johnson and husband, Tyrone and children, Torrin, Atticus and Elon and Emily Roberts and husband, Derrick and children, Roland and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. “P.A.” Roland, Sr. and Emma Bell Tamplen Roland; his wife, Joyce Roland; and daughter, Brenda Elaine Roland.
