October 30, 1950 –  December 25, 2016  COLLINSVILLE- Gary Allen Sutton, 66, of Collinsville, Texas passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his home of 22 years. He was born on October 30, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas to Leroy D. and Eloise (Stephens) Sutton. They were a military family and traveled all over the world. Their primary home was in Louisiana.
Gary at the age of 17, decided to join the military and proudly served in both Army and Air force. He received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam. After his military service he returned home to Shreveport, Louisiana where he worked at a variety of different employers. Gary moved to Grayson County, Texas in 1994 where he worked for Culpepper Plumbing, as well as the City of Whitesboro before finally retiring from Monitor Manufacturing in Sherman, Texas.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lydia Kay (Nuner) Sutton of Collinsville, Texas; his son, Matthew Sutton and wife, Abby (Billet) of York, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Rebecca Sutton-Hughes and husband, Michael of Gordonville, Texas; six granddaughters, (Autumn) Paige, Emily, Courtney, Ashley, Kiara and Jessica; one grandson, Jack and two brothers, Leroy D. Sutton, Jr. of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Ronald Glen of Center, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael Stephens and Max Earl.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, Texas with a graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Dixie Cemetery with Rev. Scott Jordan officiating.
