September 29, 1931 –  May 16, 2010  Frank Dennis Parker of Whitesboro, Texas departed this life on May 16, 2010 to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He began his life on Sept. 29, 1931 in Electra, Texas to parents Felix L. and Mary Lee (Dozier) Parker. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Edith Lois Bishop Rhea Parker of Whitesboro; a daughter, Pamela Ann Parker Bell of Wichita Falls; 3 sons, Mark Rhea and wife, Mariann of Wichita Falls, Myrle Rhea and wife, Tammy of Whitesboro, and Mitchel Rhea and wife, Sheri of Whitesboro; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clarance Parker of Fountain Valley, California, and Felix Parker, Jr. of Fritsch, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pops loved life and never met a stranger. He enjoyed telling of his many exploits while in the Navy, serving in the Korean War aboard LST-901. His antics were memorable while working at the Ford plant in Dallas and at Shakey’s Pizza. He loved racing cars at Green Valley and his stories about them were a delight to all who heard them. You could feel yourself setting next to him as he took a turn in his Sunbeam Alpine on two wheels. You could feel the drift of the rear end as he downshifted for the next turn and the acceleration as he headed down the straightaway.
His fondest memories were of people and the lives he touched during his time in the Texas Dairy Queen Assoc., first in Wichita Falls as a store manager and later as an owner of the Dairy Queen in Whitesboro. The interaction with people and the bonds he made with them gave him life.
His family goes beyond those afore mentioned and include all the young people he trained, worked with and cared for In his heart. “Sire”, “Uncle Frank” and “Senor DeFranko” , adopted them all. His warm smile, bright blue eyes and his laughter will be greatly missed.
Words cannot express what a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he was.
