August 29, 1938 –  January 7, 2015  SHERMAN – Funeral services for Era Mae McClung, 76, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 3:30 p.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Bro. Allen Phillips officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation services will be on Friday, January 9, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.She died on January 7, 2014 in Sherman, Texas.
Era was born on August 29, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Edward Lewis and Era Bernice (Dry) Smith. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was a retired caregiver who loved to sew. She was also very talented at needlework. She also enjoyed working with crafts and painting. She was a family oriented wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who greatly enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her children: Lexton McClung and his wife, Victoria, of Sherman; Mark McClung and his wife, René, of Azle; Rheba Davis and her husband, Raymond, of Whitesboro; Tammy Hager and her husband, Bud, of Ft. Worth; Kelly Grimes and her husband, Johney, of Whitesboro; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters: Dora Vickers of Ore City; Ouida Yaws of Jefferson, and Lela Fay Daniels of Roswell, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Hilluard McClung; son, Joe McClung; parents, Edward and Bernice Smith; sister, Earlyne Baldino; brother, James Edward Smith; brother, John Joseph Smith; sister, Zelmarie Chapman; sister, Evon Smith; sister, LaVoyce Wilson; brother, Delbert Smith; and brother, Charles Smith.
Members of her family will serve as pallbearers.
