February 8, 1931 –  January 19, 2009  Earl H. Davis, 77, of Whitesboro died in his home on Monday, January 19, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Ellen Reutelhuber Davis, Paul & Norma Davis of Eldorado, IL., step-children Becca and Bill Craig of Brecksville, OH, Eric & Debbie Reutelhuber of Anna, TX, Deborah & Tim Cornelius of Burkburnett, TX, and Steven & Julie Reutelhuber of Southlake, TX. Grandchildren are Ian Reutelhuber, Canon & Chandler Cornelius, Kelly & Andrew Craig and Alex, Julia & Jack Reutelhuber.
The only child of Ben and Nola Davis, Earl was born Feb. 8, 1931 and grew up in Eldorado, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois and went into the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant. While stationed in Germany he was with the 1st Armored Tank Division as a tank commander. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for Pure Oil Company. Pure Oil was bought out by Unocal Oil, and Earl stayed with the company until his retirement.

Earl then moved to Texas from California, and bought property in Whitesboro, TX, where he raised quarter horses and later cattle. Earl was President of the Whitesboro Chamber of Commerce for two terms and was a Board member and treasurer of Two Way Water for several years. Earl was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro and worked diligently with the Baptist Menâ??s Association Disaster team as a â??first responderâ? traveling to disasters in many parts of the US and some foreign countries. Earlâ??s greatest pleasure was watching his grandchildren participate in various sporting events.

Services will be under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, TX. Honorary Pallbearers are Eric Reutelhuber, Ian Reutelhuber, Tim Cornelius, Canon Cornelius, Lee Decker, Bob Farber, Dennis Hawkins, Hank Lovejoy, & Don Smith.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Visitation for friends and relatives was held Tuesday, January 20, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m.
