September 18, 1919 –  April 5, 2012  Funeral services for Dorothy Roberts Locke, 92, will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 9th at First Christian Church with Rev. Mark Loewen, church pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday at the church, one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Locke passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at her residence in Gainesville.
Dorothy was born in Waco, Texas September 18, 1919 to Aaron and Lillie (Cole) Roberts. She was a graduate of Honey Grove High School. Dorothy married Willard Chester Locke, Jr. February 28, 1941. She worked at Linda Jo’s Shoe Factory for several years and at Ray and Mary’s Hallmark. Mrs. Locke was a loving Mother and Grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, rug hooking, gardening and tennis. Dorothy read to children at Chalmers Elementary School and volunteered at the Stanford House. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors of Dorothy Roberts Locke include her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Locke and Douglas Dougherty of Gainesville; sons and daughter-in-law, Herbert Dean and Jan Locke of Plano and Richard Bruce Locke of Rowlett; grandchildren and their spouses, Sam Locke and Dana of Richardson, Tom Locke of Richardson, Joe Locke and Cindy of Wylie, Rick Locke and Sue of California, Rusty Dean Locke and Melissa of Frisco, Janna D’Ette Locke of Plano, Jeff Locke of Denton, Brad Locke of Carrollton, John Dougherty and Riannon of Gainesville, Scott Dougherty and Stacy of Gainesville, Jennifer Smith and Chris of Rowlett, Cory Locke of Gainesville, Dillon Enderby of Gainesville and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons, Donald Lee Locke, Kenneth Ray Locke and Chester Wayne Locke and brothers, Ray Taylor Roberts and Aaron Doss Roberts.
