September 2, 1923 –  September 6, 2013  Heaven has just been blessed with another angel from Renaissance Care Center on September 6, 2013. Dorothy “Dot” Linn was 90 years old.

She was born September 2, 1923 to W.A. “Bill” and Nellie Mathews on the family farm southwest of Myra. Dot helped on the farm, working side by side with her father, picking cotton, etc. She finished all eleven grades at Myra School, then went to Gainesville High School by bus her senior year. Dorothy enjoyed tennis, volleyball, and going to market with her father so she could get some candy. She also loved gathering with friends. While working for Kress’ Department Store, she married Thomas “Tommy” Linn on April 14, 1946. Later she went to work at Linda Jo Shoe Factory lacing shoes and after having her son, Jerry she worked from home lacing shoes. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and outdoor activities.

Dorothy Linn is survived by one sister, Katy Morrison of Dallas; granddaughter, Brenda Linn of Gainesville; 8 great-grandsons, Matt Linn of San Antonio, A.J. Harris of Monahans, Texas, Johnny Harris of Pilot Point, Westin Linn of Denton, Michael Wheeler of Denton, Timothy Wheeler of Denton, Ethan Wheeler of Denton, and Ryan Wheeler of Denton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; son, Jerry; granddaughter, Tresa Harris, 3 brothers, Ray, Reeves and Bob Mathews and sister, Thelma Burke

Graveside services for Mrs. Linn, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12th at New Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. David Morris officiating. She will be in state at the funeral home from 8:00 – 5:00 Wednesday for viewing.

Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
