August 7, 1911 –  April 13, 2007  COLLINSVILLE- Funeral Services for Dorothy Frances Lewter, 95, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 16, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lewter passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

Dorothy was born on August 7, 1911 in Sadler, Texas to Frank and Nora Belle (Bullard) Wood. She married Dorsey Clay Lewter on December 23, 1933 in Sherman, Texas. Dorothy attended school through the 10th grade in Sadler then graduated from the 11th grade in 1928 from Whitesboro High School. She then continued on to CIA (which is now known as TWU) for 2 years receiving her teaching certificate. Dorothy went on to teach school at Prairie Valley from 1930-1934, teaching grades 1, 2, 3 and 4, all in a one room school building.

Dorothy has been of the Baptist faith for 87 years and taught Sunday school for many of those years, she loved to knit and sew, the outdoors, farming, tending to her garden and flowerbeds. She was always busy, never complained, and was a very generous woman. Dorothy was a woman that was open to learning new things. She even took up painting in her 80â??s.

She is survived by a son, Noel Lewter and wife Jacquita of Collinsville; two sisters, Oleta Gattis of New Braunsfels and Laura Beth Siebman and husband Alford of Sadler; five sistersâ??inâ??law, Mary Wood of Whitesboro, Betty Wood of Sadler, Ellen Wood of Sadler, Hazel Davidson of Sherman and Melba Yankovich and husband John of Austin; five grandchildren, Layne Lewter and wife Carrie of Whitesboro, Dorsey Jack Lewter and wife Jo of Collinsville, Terry West Liner and husband Bob of Houston, Sherry Dieterich and husband Whit of Shady Shores and Gina Noelle Williams and husband Jon of Corinth; six great-grandchildren, Justin Lewter and wife Alisha of Collinsville, Austin Lewter of Denison, Lucas Lewter of Whitesboro, Jess Lewter of Collinsville, Callie Dieterich of Shady Shores and Jasmine Lewter of Collinsville; three step-grandchildren, Jon David Williams, Roman Williams and Benjamin Williams of Cornith; one great-great-grandson Carson Clay Lewter of Collinsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Lewter; her parents, Frank and Nora Belle Wood; daughter, Margie Ann West; grandson, Karl West; seven brothers, Charlie Wood, John Wood, Clayton Wood, Leslie Wood, Luther Wood, Norris Wood and Benny Wood.

Pallbearers are: Layne Lewter, Dorsey Lewter, Justin Lewter, Autsin Lewter, Lucas Lewter and Brandon White.

Honorary pallbearers are: Bob Liner, Whit Dieterich, Jon Williams, Carey Dodson, Shelly Hughes and Darrin White
