July 3, 1939 –  April 5, 2009  WHITESBORO- Funeral Services for Dempsey Leon Sims, 69, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at North Hills Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. John Reynolds, Rev. Charlie Carter and Rev. Sammye Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the funeral home.
Dempsey passed away at the Whitesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Whitesboro on Sunday, April 5, 2009 due to brain cancer.

Dempsey Leon Sims was born on July 3, 1939 in Sadler to Marvin and Inez (McConnell) Sims. He married Patsy Harville on July 10, 1964 at North Avenue Baptist Church in Whitesboro. Dempsey was a Deacon of North Hills Baptist Church for over 30 years. He owned and operated Sims Ornamental Iron. Dempsey loved his friends, church and most of all his family and the Lord Jesus Christ. He always enjoyed a good round of golf. Dempsey was recently recognized by the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce with a certificate of appreciating for a lifetime of community service. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of Whitesboro; 3 daughters, Shawn Bensley and husband Mike of Whitesboro, Sherri Robinson and husband Harold of Denison and Shanna Iles and husband Matt of Graham; grandchildren, Ryan, Donnie and Myndi Wood, Irene Robinson, Tyler Bensley and Abbi, Avery and Aubrey Iles; a brother, Glen Sims; 2 sisters, Doris Hale and Dorothy Shaw, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dempsey was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Sims.

Pallbearers are: Shane Harville, Matt Iles, Terry Bridges, Matthew Woolsey, Derek Cravens and Darrell Sims.

Honorarium pallbearers are: Jackie Crisp, Jr., James Crisp and Jarrett Crisp.
