Connie Hudspeth Paris (Curry) passed away on December 4, 2011 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant where she was involved in several Bible study groups and received her ESL Mission certification from Baylor University. Prior to coming to Mt. Pleasant, she taught Sunday School for ten years at First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Texas.

Her lengthy academic career included teaching English, German, ESL and Speech. She taught German and English in her many years at Lindsay High School in Lindsay, Texas and led students in UIL state competitions. She retired in 1999 after teaching German for 13 years at Plano East High School in Plano, Texas. For many years she enjoyed taking students to Europe on study tours, as well as hosting foreign students through international clubs. Connie was currently teaching part time in the Writing Center at Collin College in Plano.

Connie had a love of history and contributed to her communities by serving on the Historical Society board in Gainesville and was a member of the Historical Society in Mt. Vernon. She was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi and Chi Omega sorority. Connieâ??s love of books and reading led her to become a member of a book club in Mt. Vernon.

Connie is survived by her daughter Holli Volkert, husband Chris, and their children, Chantal, Wren, Willow and Rye of Lake Bluff, Illinois; her daughter, Heather Zellers, husband Chad and their children, Sierra and Steel of Austin, Texas; her sister, Kay Jones and husband Jimmy of Scroggins, Texas; her brother, Don Curry and wife Jane of Las Vegas, Nevada as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris â??Budâ? and Elizabeth Curry.

Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, 10 a.m. at St. Paulâ??s Episcopal Church, 411 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at Clement-Keel Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas.
