June 8, 1930 –  January 5, 2007  GORDONVILLE â?? Funeral Services for Charles Edward Wilkins, 76 will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 8, 2007 at Sherwood Shores Baptist Church with Rev. Wendyl Glenn officiating, directed by Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Interment will follow in Nelson Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2007 from 5 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
Charles passed away Friday, January 05, 2007 at the Whitesboro Nursing Center.

He was born June 8, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Edward Barrett and Edith Mae (Young) Wilkins. Charles served in the U.S. Navy, he owned and operated Wilkins Electric in Burkburnett for 25 years, was a former owner of Cedar Bayou on Lake Texoma, he worked as an electrician for Mobil Oil Company and Texas Electrical Service. Charles married Mavis (Bartlett) Novosad on January 20, 1982 in Sherman. He was captian of the Island Queen on Lake Texoma and a member of Sherwood Shores Baptist Church.

Charles quoted: â??I would like to be remembered most as a loving father and husband, who realized a little too late in life that God has plans for me while I am still in this world. I have tried since to labor in His will and guidance.â?

Survivors include his wife, Mavis Wilkins of Gordonville; two sons, Michael Wilkins and wife Kimberly of Wichita Falls and Mark Wilkins and wife Kathleen of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Sherry Hatfield and husband Don of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Julie Moreland and husband Jim of Grapevine; a stepson, Jerry Charles Novosad of Bryan; a brother, Bill Wilkins of Germany; six grandchildren, Pamela Penn of Wichita Falls, Cody Moreland of Grapevine, Kayla Nowowiejski of Lubbock, Jessica Wilkins of Wichita Falls, Abby Wilkins of Wichita Falls and Alyssa Wilkins of Wichita Falls; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Penn and Brayden Penn.
