May 22, 1933 –  December 14, 2013  C. J. CARNEYCOLLINSVILLE ? Funeral services for C. J. Carney, 80, will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow the service at Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation services will be held Monday, December 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He passed away on December 14, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
C. J. was born on May 22, 1933 to Charles Jacob and Rebecca Ann (Gillum) Carney. He married Virginia ?Bunkey? Overturff on October 27, 1951 in Tioga, Texas. They were married until her passing on February 3, 2007. He worked for Texas Instruments for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the Collinsville Masonic Lodge #433 AF & AM. He enjoyed hunting and gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. C. J. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his son, Gary Carney, of Collinsville, TX; daughter, Patty Mitchell, of Collinsville; sisters: Wanda McGehee-Pearson, of Whitesboro; and Juanita Vannoy, of Sadler; grandchildren: Shane Mitchell and wife, Linda; Shanna Reynolds and husband, Chase; Sheryl Bentley and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren: Madison Love, Autum Mitchell, Kyle Belz, C. J. Reynolds, Kayla and Hadley Bentley.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Rebecca Carney; wife, Virginia ?Bunkey? Carney; and sisters: Faye Ragsdale and Flossie Culpepper.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Carney, Curtis Fails, Roy Blair, Royce Melton, Brian Vyvjala, and Gary Grist.
