He was born on November 14, 1962 to Billy Frank “Hank” and Rita Mae (Young) Lovejoy in Sherman, Texas. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1981 and went on to live a life dedicated to his Lord and to his family. Chris was an all-state trumpet player during his high school career, he could play every instrument and was an accomplished pianist, vocalist and composer. He was a former band director and worship pastor For Georgetown Baptist Church of Pottsboro, TX. He was the inspiration for the Nativity Live (nativitylive.com) that is held during the Christmas season at Georgetown Baptist. Chris loved the outdoors, he loved people, and everybody loved Chris. His radiance and passion for Jesus just shined out of him like a beacon of light, drawing people to him. His wife, Lesa said of him “He was the best human I’ve ever known.” His father’s favorite verse is “I have no greater joy than to know my children walk in the truth.” (3 John 1:4) Chris lived this everyday of his life. He is described by his whole family as a sweet aroma, a sacrifice well pleasing to God. (Phil 4:18) Chris and Lesa exhibited this sacrifice recently, in selling all their possessions and following God’s call to move to Woodland Park, Colorado to attend Charis Bible College.
