April 6, 1947 –  May 21, 2014  ARTHUR RAYMOND PARKIN IIIWHITESBORO – Memorial services for Arthur “Art” Parkin, 67, will be held on May 28 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the Pecan Point Assisted Living Center in Sherman, Texas. A graveside service will be held on May 31, 2014 in Whittemore, Michigan. There will not be any visitation services. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.
He passed away on May 21, 2014 in Sherman, Texas.
Art was born on April 6, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur Raymond Parkin II and Doris (Wood) Parkin. He married Linda Dorcey on April 26, 1969 in Whittemore, Michigan. They were married until her passing in 1986. Art served in the U. S. Air Force for nine and one half years during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1972 he was #7 in the world in Motocross Racing in the Jr. Circuit while in the military. He worked for many years as a machinist at Valenite, eventually transferring his family to Texas in 1979. In the 1980’s, Art enjoyed running his own business as a lighting technician for many up and coming touring bands in the lower parts of the United States. In his later years, he enjoyed listening to classic rock and he was a huge Nascar fan.
His family would like to extend thanks to his “extended” family at Pecan Point Assisted Living Center for the love and care that he received during his stay there.
He is survived by his children: Missy Stubblefield, and her husband, Mike, of Whitesboro; Lorie Valentin, and her husband, Mike, of St. Juliet, TN; Raymond Parkin, and his wife, Bonnie, of Oscoda, MI; mother, Doris Parkin of Midland, MI; sisters: Clare Crane of Whittemore, MI; Sara Parkin-Enders, and husband, Butch, of Midland, MI; and Penny Parkin of Midland, MI; and eight grandchildren: Tawni, Hannah, Emily, Tabitha, Leah, Tyler, Abby, and Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Parkin; and his father, Arthur Raymond Parkin II.
