November 29, 1929 –  November 29, 2012  Jack Carender, 83, went home to be with his Savior Thursday morning, November 29, 2012, at Texas Health Presbyterian, WNJ in Sherman, Texas. His family was at his side. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Bro. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Preston Bend Cemetery in Pottsboro, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.He was born on November 29, 1929, in Preston Bend, Texas to Andrew Haskell and Mary Bell (Nance) Carender, Sr. He married Viola Dean McKenzie on January 14, 1971 in Houston, Texas. He was a square dance caller and teacher for 29 years. He sang with gospel quartets. He also served as a pastor in Oklahoma. He had been a member of the Central Baptist Church since 1996. In his last years he retired to Whitesboro and began working at Axtell Pharmacy. He had worked there for ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Dean Carender, of Whitesboro, TX; ten children: Gerald, Diann, Darrel, Janice, Richard, Michael, Patrick, Lindell, Kelly and Timothy Ray; brother, Larry Carender; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Carender, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 247, Whitesboro, Texas 76273 .
Pall bearers will be Tim Carender, Luke Robison, Christopher Carender, Michael Lollis, Aaron Williams, Casey Brandon Witt, John Knight, Eddie McKenzie and Harold McKenzie.
