March 17, 1927 –  July 8, 2007  WHITESBORO â?? Funeral Services for Alvin R. King, 80, will be 2 P.M. Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Kenny King, Rev. Rick Carney and Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Dixie Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 2772 of Sherman. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the funeral home.
Alvin passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Community Specialty Hospital in Sherman.

He was born March 17, 1927 in Robert Lee, Texas to George and Carrie (Plumlee) King. Alvin was a WW II Veteran in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga . He married Katherine Miller on October 7, 1946 in Rotan, Texas. He drove a delivery truck for Kingâ??s Butane in Stanley, New Mexico for many years. Alvin had lived in Whitesboro since 1991. He was a member of Bones Chapel Baptist Church in Whitesboro.

Survivors include a son, Ray King of Whitesboro; three grandsons, Kenny King of Greenville, South Carolina, Scott King of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Michael King of Whitesboro; six great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Elizabeth Brice of Odessa; a daughter in law, Jacquelyn King of Whitesboro; a sister in law, Dorothy King of Stanley, New Mexico; and a brother in law, Al Miller of Whitesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Carrie King, his wife, Katherine King, a son, William â??Sonnyâ? King, a great-granddaughter, Kayla King, and a brother, Earl King.

Pallbearers are Frank Jacobs, Tim Jones, Gary Roland, Don Ham, Sonny Allen, Jerry King and Brian Hampton.

Honorary Pallbearers are Michael King, Phillip King,Paul King, Isaac King, Andrew King and Dick Holly.
